Thankful for two decades of serving Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Thankful for the bus route that I can take right from my house to work, in almost the same time it takes to drive.
Thankful for meeting up with a friend every so often to walk a big loop around the neighborhood and trade ideas and stories.
Thankful for how my son always runs the last block to school, and for how he winks and shouts “Ciao!” before he goes inside.
Thankful for our humidifiers that help combat the very dry forced hot air in our old house, and for our loud furnace that makes us turn up the tv or music volume everytime it kicks on.
Thankful for the piles of research we’ve done in considering our next, post-fossil fuel heating source as we navigate life on a burning planet.
Thankful for our public library for our current haul of one fantasy book, five books of animal facts and one Scooby Doo dvd.
Thankful for the cute street lights outside my office, which somehow make things seem cozier.
Thankful for the group chats and sci-fi read-alongs and friendship bracelets and for planning Christmas craft days and going to bed early and wedding anniversaries on Lake Champlain.
Thankful for the opportunity to think about housing, neighborhoods and small cities with you all.
