I’m hosting another letter-writing hang this weekend, this time outside in the park. Bring a coffee, bring a dog, bring the kiddos. I’ll bring the letter supplies and treats.

Last time, our cider-drinking group wrote 200 letters to voters! Let’s see what this coffee (tea, etc)-drinking group can do. Just like last time, we’ll be writing to voters in marginalized communities and likely-Democratic voters to turn out in strategic NY districts.
If you can’t make it, but still want in on GOTV action there’s another way to get involved. Next Thursday, August 29 I’ll be part of a Vote Forward virtual event celebrating the JOY in letter writing.

We have an incredible community of more than 255,000 letter writers, writing millions of letters to voters this year. At Vote Forward, we get to hear the fun and creative ways our community brings people together to write letters. We're hosting this event to celebrate and share the joy!
We also consistently hear from letter writers that letter writing is a way they turn their anxiety into action. There's joy in the purpose behind our letters - taking action towards a hopeful future.
During this event, we'll cover the impact of our letters, and we'll hear from our community of letter writers and how they bring people together to write letters in fun and creative ways. (Note: This is where I’ll pop on to talk about how you can write letters during happy hour or while hanging in the park!)
These letters are part of The Big Send—our collective effort to write 10 million letters to voters this year. We’re writing letters and sending them between October 1 and October 29, to ensure they arrive when they’ll have the most impact on turnout.
Whether you’re writing letters for the first time or if you’re an experienced letter writer looking to refine your message, this event is for you!
The most common question we receive at Vote Forward is: "what should I write?" This letter writing event is the personalized, in-depth answer to that question. Vote Forward staff will help you craft an effective, personal message to voters.
In addition to the training, you'll join volunteers from across the country, and have your letter writing questions answered by the Vote Forward team!
Hop on Zoom for some training and inspiration, then you can download and write letters on your own.
